Located in the Central Western zone of the Sierra Nevada with an altitude of between 3400 and 5300 meters above sea level, San Pablín Sur. From here we can carry out different activities such as horse rides, trekking, rock climbing and mountaineering. It is possible to develop activities of high mountain for persons with or without experience. It is recommended to have a correct acclimatization, to coordinate with anticipation the logistics such as transport, mules, technical equipment, food supply, guides, etc.

First day

Trip by bus Bogotá — El Cocuy — Güicán

We leave from the Transport Terminal of Bogotá, Red Module No. 3 at 7 pm. North highway. We travel through the Department of Boyacá passing through Tunja, Duitama, Soatá, Capitanejo, El Espino, El Cocuy and Güicán.

Duration of the trip: 10 hours approximately

Second day

First camp — Cascada de San Pablín (acclimatization)

En Güicán, we shall have breakfast and begin our trip by car to the farm la Colorada. We shall begin the hike of acclimatization to the base camp at 3600 meters above sea level. This hike is very important for our expedition.

In the evening we shall have supper and rest in the Cascada de San Pablín in tents of high mountain.

Third day

Laguna de la plazuela, “Base Camp”

After our breakfast we shall begin our hike to the Laguna de la Plazuela at 4550 meters above sea level. Hike of approximately 4 hours with assault backpacks, assisted by mules and horses.

Fourth day

Border of the Glacier. “Approximation Camp”

This day we will make a hike (approximately 5 hours) with expedition backpacks to the border of the glacier where we will install our advance camp.

Fourth day

Assault of the Peak of San Pablín Sur at 5300 meters above sea level

After a light breakfast, very early in the morning we shall make the assault of the peak of San Pablín; we shall walk through glacier residues and shall use technical equipment in the glacier.

We shall arrive at the Base camp, rest and have supper.

Fifth day

Descend to the farm la Colorada

Descend to the farm la Colorada. After breakfast and raising camp we shall make our hike to the farm la Colorada, assisted by mules and horses. Here a car that will take us to the municipality of Güicán will pick us up.

We shall spend the night in a hotel in Güicán.

Sixth day

Güicán — Bogotá

We shall travel in the morning to the municipality of El Cocuy and shall recognize the colonial architecture of this town. Later we shall travel to Bogotá. On our way back we can go to the thermal baths in Paipa in order to arrive to Bogotá in the afternoon.
