Three expeditions were necessary and as a was getting to know them, more and more did the peaks and mountains that I could see from the snow peaks seduced me. Firts day

Bus trip Bogotá — El Cocuy — Güicán

Duration of the trip: 11 hours approximately.

We leave the Bogotá transport terminal from the red module 3 at 7 pm. North highway. We travel through the Department of Boyacá passing Tunja, Duitama, Soatá, Capitanejo, El Espinoi, El Cocuy and Güicán.

Second day

First Camp — Kanwara (acclimatization)

After our trip we shall arrive at the municipality of Güicán where we shall have breakfast and begin our trip in vehicle to Kanwara, approximately one hour.

We shall begin the acclimatization hike towards our first camp at 44000 meters above sea level. This hike is important for our expedition.

Third day

Second camp — Laguna Grande de los Verdes

Once we have had breakfast, we shall raise tents and shall begin our hike to El Boquerón de Cardenillo at 4460 meters above sea level. This will be our first pass of altitude after which we will descend to the second camp at Laguna Grande de los Verdes at 4100 meters above sea level.

Hike of 6 hours duration approximately with assault backpacks and assisted by mules and horses.

We shall install camp, rest and have supper.

Fourth day

Third camp — Laguna de Avenillal

This day we shall make a hike of between 4 and 7 hours assisted by mules and guides, passing through El Boquerón de la Sierra at 4650 meters above sea level and having as a view the Valle de los Cojines and the imposing Titak U’wa Blanco.

We shall spend the night at the Laguna del Avenillal surrounded by the Ritak U’was, the San Pablines, the peak El Castillo.

This day we will do a 4 to 7 hours hike.

Fifth day

Fourth Camp — Valle de los Cojines

We shall move on to the Valle de los Cojines, a hike of 3 to 4 hours duration with backpacks of 40 litres carrying sleeping bag, tent, isolator and personal equipment (5 kilos approximately).

Sixth day

Fifth camp — Paso de Castillo

We shall assault the Paso del Castillo (4700 meters above sea level).

We shall make a hike of 6 hours approximately in order to arrive at the Laguna del Pañuelo where we shall spend the night.

Seventh day

Sixth camp — Laguna de la Plaza

We shall leave towards the Laguna de la Plaza through the Paso de los Balcones (4500 meters above sea level) with duration 6 hours and shall spend the night in the north eastern part of the Laguna de la Plaza.

Eighth day

Seventh camp — Assault of Paso de Bella Vista and Laguna Grande de la Sierra

After a light breakfast, very early in the morning we will make the assault of the Paso de Bella Vista which will conduct us to the Laguna de la Plaza. We will walk through glacier rocks and shall use technical equipment in the glacier. We shall arrive at the Second Base Camp of the Laguna de la Sierra where we shall rest and have supper.

Ninth day

Eight camp — Assualt of the Peak Cancavito 5150 meters above sea level

We shall make the assault of the peak of Concavito at 5100 meters above sea level through rocky terrain until we reach the border of the glacier where we will use special certified equipment in order to walk over the glacier. This hike has duration of approximately 5 hours.

Tenth day

Descend to the Hacienda la Esperanza — municipality of Güicán

After breakfast and raising tents we shall make our hike to the Hacienda la Esperanza. Assisted by mules and horses. Here we will be collected by a vehicle which will take us to the municipality of Güicán.

Return to Bogotá approximately 11 hours.
