Located in the north western zone of the Sierra Nevada with an altitude of between 4000 to 53333 meters above sea level, ‘Ritak U’wa Blanco as maximum height”. From here we can carry out different activities such as horse riding, trekking, rock climbing and mountaineering. It is possible to carry out activities of high mountain for person with or without experience. It is recommended to have a correct acclimatization, to coordinate with anticipation the logistics such as transport, mules, technical equipment, guides, etc.

Firts day

Trip by bus Bogotá — El Cocuy — Güicán

We leave from the Transport Terminal of Bogotá, Red Module No. 3 at 7 pm. North highway. We travel through the Department of Boyacá passing through Tunja, Duitama, Soatá, Capitanejo, El Espino, El Cocuy and Güicán.

Duration of the trip: 10 hours approximately

Second day

First camp — Ritak U’wa (acclimatizarion)

After our trip we shall arrive at the municipality of Güicán where we shall have breakfast and begin our trip in vehicle to Kanwara, approximately one hour.

We shall begin the acclimatization hike towards our first camp at 44000 meters above sea level. This hike is important for our expedition.

Third day

Second camp — Playitas

After our breakfast we shall raise tents and shall begin our hike to our second camp Playitas, at 4300 meters above sea level. Hike of approximately 4 hours with assault backpacks, assisted by mules and horses.

We shall install camps, and will make a short talk on how to manage equipment of high mountain and then will have supper.

Fourth day

Assualt of Cumbre Ritak U’wa Blanco

After a light breakfast, very early in the morning we shall make the assault of the peak Ritak U’wa Blanco; we shall walk through rocky terrains until we reach the border of the glacier were we will use special certified equipment to walk over the glacier. This hike has duration of 6 hours approximately.

We shall arrive at the first camp; we shall rest and have supper

Sixth day

Descend to the municipality of Güicán

After breakfast and raising camp we shall begin our hike to Kanwara where a vehicle will pick us up that will take us to the municipality of Güicán. We shall have lunch and will go to a thermal bath in the municipality.

Return to Bogotá in approximately 10 hours.
