Located in the central zone of the Sierra Nevada with an altitude from 3600 meters above sea level to Toti at 5230 meters above sea level. From here we can carry implement several activities such as horse rides, trekking, rock climbing and mountaineering. It is possible to carry out different activities of high mountain for person with or without experience. It is recommended to have a correct acclimatization, to coordinate in advance the logistics such as transport, mules, technical equipment, guides, etc.

First day

Bus trip Bogotá – El Cocuy - Güican

Duration of the trip: 10 hours approximately.

We spend the night in the municipality of El Cocuy.

Second day

First camp —Valle de los Frailejones (acclimatization)

En Güicán we shall have breakfast and we shall begin our trip by car to Hacienda la Esperanza. We shall begin the acclimatization hike towards the base camp at 3600 meters above sea level. This hike is important for our expedition.

In the evening we shall have supper and rest in the Valley of the Frailejones in tents of high mountain.

Third day

Laguna Grande de la Sierra “Base Camp”

After our breakfast we shall begin our hike to the Laguna Grande de la Sierra at 4550 meters above sea level. Hike of approximately 3 hours, with assault backpacks, assisted by mules and horses.

Fourth day

Assault of peak Concavito at 5050 meters above sea level

We shall make the assault of the cumber del Concavito at 5050 meters above sea level. We shall walk through rocky terrain until we reach the border of the glacier where we will use special certified equipment to walk over the glacier. This hike has duration of approximately 5 hours.

Fifth day

Assault of peak Toti at 4800 meters above sea level

After a light breakfast, very early in the morning, we shall make the assault of the peak Toti; we shall would through glacier residues and shall use technical equipment in the glacier.

We arrive at the “base camp”, we shall rest and have supper.

Sixth day

Descend to the Hacienda la Esperanza

After breakfast and raising camps we shall make our hike to Hacienda la Esperanza assisted by mules and horses, where we will be picked up by a vehicle that will take us to the municipality of Güicán.

We will spend the night in a hotel in Güicán.

Seventh day

We travel in the morning to the municipality of El Cocuy and we recognize the colonial architecture of this town after which we depart to Bogotá. On our trip back we can go to the thermal baths of Paipa in order to arrive in Bogotá in the afternoon.
